What it actually is

BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a 15-amino-acid fragment isolated from a protein naturally found in human gastric juice. Discovered by Croatian researcher Dr. Predrag Sikirić in the 1990s, it's arguably the most heavily studied recovery peptide of the last two decades — hundreds of animal papers documenting effects on tendon, ligament, gut, brain, and vascular healing.

Its core trick is angiogenesis — it drives new blood vessel growth into damaged tissue, which is the rate-limiting step for most soft-tissue repair. It's also unusually stable in stomach acid, which is why oral use is investigated for gut issues.
